Last month (after a glass of wine and long night of surfing the web :P) I signed up for the Canadian version Glossybox. I had seen reviews of the UK Glossybox and was intrigued. Now it is here in Canada! For $15 a month (taxes/shipping included), you receive 5 deluxe beauty samples.
Note: Most of the other subbies services run $10-$!2 for 3 to 4 samples.

I received the inaugural box this morning at work. I already knew what was in it as several bloggers had received and reviewed theirs last week. BUT I got almost the same box but with one exception. Instead of receiving the Essie Nail polish, I got a sample of Wella shampoo. At first I was a little sad but then I realized I probably wouldn’t have used that particular shade so I am kind of happy I got the Wella product instead J

So here is the inaugural Glossybox.ca

The pink box is super sturdy. And it came with labels so you can reuse it later. Ideas are churning....

The rundown:

The Oscar de le Renta Live in Love eau de parfum is a beautiful fragrance. It smells clean, spicy and woody? LOL I am bad at describing scents. But I just know I like the smell. Let’s see how it is ON me. **Okay I LOVE love this perfume. It simple, clean, and it it not overbearing. I have gotten compliments on this perfum and I have only been wearing it 2 days!! :)

Beauty So Clean Cosmetic Sanitizer Mist and Wipes - I am super excited about this product! This was a bonus item! I have been using alcohol wipes I picked up at Dollarama so I can't wait to spray something down with Beauty So Clean. LOL Everyone needs these! Plus there was a 20% off coupon code included with the box in the event you want to purchase a full size product.

Elizabeth Grant Moisturzing Stick is a lip balm in a lipstick tube. So far I like it but I don’t know if I would spend $12 on lip balm. It is very moisturizing. It smells like watermelon J **So I guess I WILL pay $12 for a lip balm LOL. The Elizabeth Grant moisturing lipstick is fantastic. Even my Burt's Bees hasn't done this great of a job keeping my lips moisturized and smooth this winter. I can't believe how soft my lips are right now.

Ahava Mineral Body Lotion – very moisturizing but very very scented. I can’t put my finger on the scent but it is strong. I put some on my hands at work and one of the ‘guys’ asked who put perfume on. LOL ooops. This is not for people who have issues with scented products.

Elizabeth Arden Prevage Day crème – I haven’t had time to try it yet. A coworker said she tried it and it was good but not worth the price tag. Then I actually looked at the price and just about shit myself. LOL $160 for 50/ml YIKES So I am going to try it and see how it is. Oh and it too smells faintly of watermelons.

And now the Wella. The sample I received is shampoo for Fine to Normal Coloured Hair. Perfect for me. It makes me think someone read my profile LOL. This shampoo is very scented as well. But I like the scent. I am going to use it tomorrow J

All in all, I am very happy with my first Glossybox.ca. I will continue my sub for a while. Let’s see how Glossybox.ca does next month.

So I mentioned last week, in my Painted Purple post, that I picked up some more Maybelline Colour Tattoos 24hr Eyeshadows. I grabbed Bad to the Bronze and Tough as Taupe.

Bad to the Bronze is exactly how I would picture a bronze eyeshadow to be. This is what a goddess wears LOL ! It is creee-ammmyy. It transfers awesomely. And I can’t say how much I love the little gold flecks that run throughout. It is luxe!

Tough as Taupe is a great base. I have to say I have been using this in place of my MAC Painterly paint pot. :O I like how it is creamy yet has a matte appearance. You can layer it up to build up intensity. So easy to work with. I find using a sponge applicator makes it so easy to apply a smooth even layer of colour. I also use my ring finger to blend out the outer edges. And If I am so inclined, I will layer a complimenting shadow over top. It gives the powder eyeshadow a boost. If you love taupes, GO GET THIS!

Bad to the Bronze & Tough as Taupe

The staying power for these colour tattoos is amazing for a cream shadow. I swatched these on my arm at 10 AM and it is 9 PM now and they are still there. The intensity faded a bit, not a lot, but enough so I noticed. But how often does one wear eyeshadow on their arm? LOL They do fade faster on the eyelids. Probably from the oils. I noticed mine began to fade a bit around the 6hr mark. But I have been touching my eyes a lot lately. I have a stinkin’ headcold. Booo!!! But to make the colour tattoos really last I would use an eye primer. I didn’t notice any discernible creasing with these two shadows.

Would I buy again? Hell yeah. I wonder how these will hold up after a few months. I hope they do not dry out.

There are 10 colours all together. I passed on the tangerine, teal and green ones. Not for me. But I do want to pick up the Pomegranate Punk and Audacious Asphalt J

It is probably best to get these at Walmart/Target /CVS. I noticed the drugstores jacked up the price by $3-$4. I got these guys at Walmart for $6.97 CDN. Shoppers Drug Mart have them for $9.99 CDN :O.

I previously posted about some longwearing makeup items that I used at a recent conference. A couple other items I discovered were some more Revlon products.

I was curious about lip stains. I wanted something that would last the majority of the day without having to touch up constantly. I am lazy and hate having to touch up my makeup LOL. So I was at my local drug store, Shoppers Drug Mart, and they were having a sale on some Revlon products, buy one item and get the other ½ price. Since I have a hard time passing at deals, I bought Just Bitten in Forbidden ($12 CDN reg price) and Colorburst Lipgloss in Rosegold ($4.50 CDN sale).

The Just Bitten lip stain looks like a marker. Basically it is a marker pen sans the smell. One end is the stain and the other is a clear lip balm. It looked pretty cool. The plastic tube it comes in is the supposedly the same colour that is in the marker. This how I chose the colour I wanted as there were no testers to try. So the first time I put it on, I used the tip of the pen. The colour came off way too dark. It was way darker that what the packaging indicated and you could see the pen strokes! My friend and I were laughing and a bit appalled how dark it was and how small it made my lips look. So the next time I put it on I used the side of the marker tip and swiped the colour on. The colour came off much lighter and truer to the shade it was supposed to be. TIP: apply using the sides of the marker tip; you will get a lighter application and no ‘marker’ streaks. Be cautious when applying to the outer rim of lips and make sure your lips are not dried out - lip stains are not forgiving of mistakes or dry patches!

Forbidden by itself

On the other end of the pen is a clear lip balm. This is to keep your lips moisturized as lip stains suck the moisture right out of your lips. I did notice the darker your make your lips the drier it gets. I don’t think there was anything particularly remarkable about the lip balm. I didn’t use it very much; I used a lipgloss over top instead. TIP: be careful putting the top back on, my friend busted the lip balm off her lipstain putting the top back on LOL

Forbidden with lip balm

I am not sure how long Revlon claims that this colour will last but I noticed it did last for about 5-6 hours. It does fade as time goes by. I mostly tested this out at work and at night during the recent conference I was at. I had lots of coffee/water and of course ate during this period. The colour stayed put and the lipstain did not transfer at all (lipgloss was another story LOL). I did have to reapply my lipgloss periodically but I wasn’t as bothered by that as I still had colour on my lips. I’d give the Just Bitten pen a 4 out of 5 now that I figured out how to apply it LOL!

Colorburst Lipgloss in Rosegold

On to the Colorburst Lipgloss; I adore this stuff! I would liken this lipgloss to a creamy lipstick. It is thick and shiny but not heavy or in your face goopy and shiny. Plus it is very moisturizing; it has vitamin E in it. I also like the sponge tip applicator. The colour Rosegold is perfect for me. Since it is my current favourite I use it with the Just Bitten lipstain instead of the lip balm. Like most lipglosses it did transfer onto my coffee cup but oh well I love the colour to much to care HAHA!
