I subscribe to four of the major monthly beauty subscription boxes for Canada. I have received 3 of them but won’t get the Topbox** until May 2012 :/  For this comparison, I used the card my friend got with her box. I wanted to take pictures but she had it all apart/used within days HAHA.

February was Glossybox.ca inaugural box for Canada. I say they did pretty damn good job. I liked everything in this month’s Glossybox. I am using everything in it with the exception of the Wella but I will get around to using it. LOVE the Oscar parfum! You can purchase the products that were in the box through the Glossybox site. They have referral links under the Products tab. You can check out my review of the Glossybox here.

My Glymm box took forever to get to me. It was shipped out on February 17 and I got it the following Friday (February 24). The Luxe Box shipped out on the same day and I got on the following Wednesday. I am not sure why it takes Glymm longer to get here???    I was OK with Glymm box this month.  I was sort of neutral about it. The Sula Paint n Peel nail polish is intriguing and I already use Burt Bee’s tinted lip balm in Hibiscus so I welcome the version they had in this box. Glymm has an online store. They have a huge assortment of Butter London nail polishes! I am waiting to get a shop n save card in a future box LOL.

My Loose Button LuxeBox was great. I am over the moon for the China Glaze. This is only my 2nd polish by China Glaze. I usually ask for it when getting mani/pedis and fell so in love with a purple polish last summer that I bought it for $15 at the salon. WHATTT? LOL  I am using the Dermalogica right now so it is a little too early to give a review on it but so far so good! I opened the LuxeBox at work and 2 of my coworkers signed up that day LOL. The next day the LuxeBox was sold out! I do not see an online shop for LuxeBox. Maybe I am missing something? You can check out my review of the LuxeBox here.

And the Topbox... all I can say is it better live up to its hype! I have to wait until May to get it. UGH. My friend ‘Jules’ was so happy to get 2 ½ makeup products this month. I say ½ because the YSL Touche Eclat was only enough for one use and she couldn’t tell from that if she liked it or not LOL. She loves her YSL mascara though. Again I do not see an online store for Topbox.ca either.

Each subscription service has it lovers and haters. My view on that is that WE signed up for it; WE agreed to have a sample box sent us, items unknown. The whole point is to try new things – to see if you like something or not.  From these boxes, I found out I really like the Elizabeth Grant moisture stick (lip balm). At first I was yeah okay a fancy lip balm but it DOES work great on me. And how would I have ever known that I love Oscar De La Renta Live in Love perfume? Or dislike the smell in the AHAVA hand cream (last months Glymm box)?  It’s all about trying new things. My big concern is I am falling in love with high end products LOL. I am going to have to get another job to pay for my addiction!

So if you want to try out a box, give the Glossybox.ca or Glymm.com a try. Right now my fav out of the two is the Glossybox. That could change next month HAHA!

For the LuxeBox and Topbox, you will have to sign up on the waiting list. To see when new boxes are available check the websites daily. Daily. Topbox opened up last week for June sales and sold out again in mere minutes.

Do you subscribe to multiple boxes? What do think of the subscription boxes?

  1. I signed up for glossybox and luxe box and received both for my first time this month. I thought the products were great! I also won a complimentary top box and the eyeshadow was smashed unfortunately. Oh well, I'm getting my topbox in May. I was thinking about discontinuing my luxe box by then, but since I'm already quite happy with this month...maybe I will renew it for another three months. We'll see!

    1. Did you email them about the eyeshadow? They might replace it or give you something 'extra' next month. I would email them if I were you. I received March's Flare magazine again. I already have a subscription. They were supposed to extend my current subscription. I am calling tomorrow. No biggie.

  2. Thanks so much for the chart! I was a Glymm box subscriber for about 6 months and April will be my last one. I found that their quality has gone downhill since the new year started (and they stopped adding in the cute bottles of jellybeans!). I received a March Glossybox and loved it, and will be receiving Luxebox as well.

  3. Thanks for the information :) Can you pay for any of these with PayPal? I don't use credit cards and would really like to try them! Thanks for any info :)

    1. Hi Shelley
From what I can see, all four beauty subscriptions require major credit cards now to enroll. I do belive Loose Button had a PayPal option but phased that out in April.
I would try a prepaid credit card. You can get them from your bank. Just load them up and go shopping online. :) Let me know which one you signed up for.
