My May Favorites

by - June 11, 2014

My favs are a little late this month. I was debating whether to even post it. I have been pretty boring lately...makeup-wise that is. In May, I was still recovering from a flare-up that affected mainly my hands so doing in depth makeup looks was just too arduous of task for me. So I kept it simple. Pretty basic I must say. I could call this my 10 minute face.

First up is the face base I have been only reaching for this month – Marcelle’s DD Cream. The coverage is light and gives a nice healthy glow. Add a little concealer and I am good to go. Want to see a more in-depth review? Check out my Marcelle DD Cream review

The mascara that I have using the most this month is Bourjois Volume Max mascara. I finally busted this out of my mascara cue. I think I got it last December in a beauty sub and I finally just got around to opening it in April. I love the big caterpillar shaped brush on this mascara. This was great at giving my lashes much need volume with just two coats.  It is a bit of a drier formula but I think that is what makes it give such great volume. I will repurchase this one again. You can get the Bourjois Volume Max mascara at Shoppers Drug Mart $20.

A recurring palette in my monthly favorites is the Urban Decay Naked Basics palette. My palette is getting beat to shit I have been using it so much. The non-slip rubber coating on the outside of this palette is peeling off. LOL While not using this one exclusively, it has been the one that I have been reaching for the most. It is so easy to plop some Naked 2 in the crease, Faint in the outer V, blend blend blend and slap some Venus on as a highlight and BOOM your done. No fuss no muss. It’s my workhorse of palettes. Of course I have to mention Pure+simple blush in Soleil. I have been obsessed with this blush lately. It gives a soft peachy glow that is perfect for summer. I recently did a review with swatches on this blush – Loving Pure+simple Blush

And finally the polish de jour is Maybelline’s ColorShow Polka Dots Clearly Spotted. To quote the Old Lady from the Frank Red Hot Sauce commercials “I put that $%*# on everything!” Haha seriously though I can’t seem to stop using this. My mani is two days old? Chipped a nail? Oh put some Clearly Spotted on that!

I know it is a pretty tame monthly favorites but it honestly what I have been using on a daily bases. It was a sort of 'no fuss no muss' makeup kind of month for me.
