Review: Maybelline Age Rewind Dark Circle Eraser Treatment and Concealer

by - February 01, 2013

I have been bone tired  -  dragging my ass tired lately. One of the fun side effects of arthritis is lack of sleep and it is starting to show. You can always tell when I am tired because I have a little eye bag that pops up under my right eye when I am tired. So I have been on the hunt for something that will brighten my face so I look awake and one that maybe will help with that little puffiness. Enter Maybelline Age Rewind Dark Circle Eraser Treatment and Concealer.

This product has been hyped about for the past year so I decided to give it a try. I got it in the shade Light which is a tad lighter than my skin tone but I did want it primarily for brightening.

As you can see the concealer comes with a sponge puff applicator that you have to twist to get the product to come up. To get the product started I had to turn it like 20 times! Now it just takes 2 turns to get product to come up. I like the idea of the sponge puff as it make application a dream but...  Even though Maybelline states that the puff has been treated with an anti-microbial treatment, I still am a little scared of germs building up on it. But I have been using it for a month and have had no breakouts or flesh eating disease HAHA.

I find this concealer is just creamy enough – not runny at all nor is it thick. It is also very easy to blend out.  I would say the coverage runs medium for me. It definitely would not be enough to cover my freckles but is perfect to cover any dark circles I am sporting that day.

Does it help with puffiness? I think so. I mean I do notice it has a ‘cooling’ effect under my eyes and that little bag I get does seem to diminish. So I would say yeah it does help with puffiness.

The Maybelline Age Rewind Dark Circle Eraser works great to brighten up my face if I am looking bagged out. I apply in a V under my eyes and blend in with a blending brush and pat with my finger under my eye.

I do notice that this only seems to last about 6 hours on me. But if I am tired I kind of touch the area under my eyes a lot. I hate actually touching my eyes but I do touch the area underneath. Why?  I do not know. Initially it doesn't settle into the fine lines I am getting under my eyes. But at that 6 hour mark I do notice a bit of settling. To be fair, that also happens with most foundation I use too. But you really have to look to see it. I don't set the under eye area with any powder as I haven't found anything that doesn't enhance the fine lines under my eyes.

Overall it is a good dark circle concealer and works wonders at brightening up the face. But I would use something else if you need more coverage for blemishes (or freckles) though.

Have you tried the Maybelline Age Rewind Dark Circle Eraser?
